As your Houston real estate team, we want to point out that buying a Houston home is an excellent financial decision! You are investing in your future, and while this is important, there are also many reasons to buy a Houston home that have nothing to do with money.

The KCM Crew recently shared the results of a survey on the main reasons Americans feel homeownership is important and valuable. Here were the results:

1.  It’s a good place to raise children and provide them with good education. Once you buy a Houston home, chances are, you’ll stay put there for years to come. This allows you to grow roots, to choose a neighborhood that is safe, to make friend with your neighbors and their children, and to choose a neighborhood with good schools that your family will become part of.

2.  You have physical structure where you and your family feel safe. When you own a home, it’s yours. You can do what you need to in order to feel safe, secure and comfortable in it. The longer you stay put, the more attached you’ll feel to the walls that hold so many memories for you and your family.

3.  It allows you to have more space for your family. Whether you are single, newlywed, growing your family with kids, or taking in an aging parent, owning a Houston home allows you to have the space to do what you wish with. A home often includes multiple levels, more rooms, a backyard, a garage and/or more storage space.

4.  It gives you control over what to do with your living space. You might never feel fully at home in a place that you rent, because you can’t do what you want with the space. When you own a Houston home, you can renovate and update however you wish. Adopt a pet, paint the walls, add on space, build a patio, or add a pool. You can do whatever you wish!

Survey respondents didn’t bring up financial perks until the fifth reason to buy a home. They said it builds up wealth that can be passed along to family. It’s important to remember that you’re paying a mortgage, whether it’s yours or your landlords. You might as well pay your own and invest in your own future!

As you can see, there are so many great reasons to buy a Houston home, and most are intangible! However, it’s important to note that home prices and values are going up, and predicted to continue doing so, and mortgage rates are predicted to increase as well. Now is the time to buy!

When ready to move on with the home-buying process in the Houston real estate market, give us a call, your Houston real estate team. We’d love to help you out!
